Mbeki says APRM is for African countries to check themselves

The African Peer Review Mechanism has highlighted the challenge of implementing its recommendations. 35 African countries belong to the APRM, which aims to review African countries on their progress in democracy and economic, political and corporate governance. The body – part of the African Union – celebrated its 14th anniversary in Johannesburg this morning.
