Schools for Africa, a partnership between UNICEF, the Nelson Mandela Foundation and the Hamburg Society, aims to benefit 8 million more children by creating conditions that will attract children to school, keep them there and provide them with a safe and protective environment where they can learn, play and become masters of their own lives.
Working with governments, local authorities and communities in 11 of Africa’s most needy countries, UNICEF is helping build basic new schools and repair existing ones. Children receive exercise books, pencils and other learning materials, and UNICEF is training thousands of additional teachers to provide children with quality education.
