TEMPERATURES will plunge to a freezing -4C before the country is engulfed by an 11-day snow onslaught from next week.
Icy winds and freezing fog could kick December off with a bitterly cold start thanks to an icy polar blast.
Temperatures has already nosedived this weekend with the chilliest nights of the winter expected so far – with the mercury said to drop further in the coming days.
11 days of snow have been forecast from Thursday December 3, with the Scottish highlands facing the brunt of the snowfall.
The forecasters expect the risk of snow to continue into the following week, with flurries expected every day until Sunday 13.
