Adelabu Receives Heroic Welcome As He Returns To Ibadan (Video)

Former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Adebayo Adelabu, who recently resigned as the Minister of Power from the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu, received a heroic welcome on Thursday upon his return to Ibadan, Oyo State.

He was received upon arrival at the airport by a crowd of supporters who welcomed him with singing and dancing.

The politician then proceeded on a street parade with the supporters.

Naija News reports that following his resignation, Adelabu is set to officially declare for the 2027 Oyo Governorship election.

Recall that Adelabu tendered his resignation from the cabinet of President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, 22nd April, 2026.

In the letter obtained by our correspondent, the Oyo-born politician stated that the resignation would take effect on 30th April 2026.

He confirmed that the decision to resign is based on the need to focus on his 2027 gubernatorial ambition in Oyo State, which he noted dates back to 2016.

He noted that his service as Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and subsequent resignation from that role in 2018 were all in furtherance of this gubernatorial ambition.

Adelabu appreciated President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve Nigeria, and expressed his appreciation for the privilege and confidence reposed in him by the President to contribute to national development in advancing reforms in the power sector.
