Buhari Abdulfatai Declares Oyo Governorship Ambition

The senator representing Oyo North Senatorial District, Buhari Abdulfatai, has formally declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Naija News reports that Abdulfatai made the declaration on Monday during a visit to the Oyo State APC Secretariat in Ibadan alongside party leaders, supporters and loyalists from different parts of the state.

The lawmaker said his governorship ambition was driven by a desire to return the APC to power in Oyo State and restore progressive leadership at the Agodi Government House in 2027.

According to him, his aspiration is rooted in integrity, selfless service and commitment to the development of the state.

Abdulfatai’s delegation to the APC secretariat was led by former Oyo State APC Chairman, Chief Akin Oke, and former senator representing Oyo North, Senator Brimmo Yemi-Yusuff.

Others in the entourage included the former Executive Chairman of Ogbomoso North Local Government, Engr. Dayo Lawal; former Speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Gunju Ojo, and other prominent party stakeholders across the state.

Speaking during the visit, the senator expressed confidence in the party’s internal democratic process and called on the APC leadership to ensure a level playing field for all aspirants ahead of the governorship primaries.

“I reiterated my immense respect for the party’s leadership and its internal procedures. I also affirmed that my aspiration is built on integrity, selfless service, and a burning desire to return progressives to the Agodi House come 2027,” he said.

The senator also stressed the importance of fairness and transparency in the party’s selection process, insisting that all aspirants should be given equal opportunity.

I also shared a deep conviction I hold that destiny is real. Whoever God has destined to win the ticket will surely get it. I therefore called on the party leadership to ensure a level playing ground for all aspirants. Let the best candidate emerge through a free, fair, and transparent process,” Abdulfatai stated.

Senator rallies support for Tinubu

The federal lawmaker also used the occasion to urge party members in Oyo State to remain united and work towards the re-election of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.

According to him, continuity in the current administration’s policies is necessary to sustain ongoing economic reforms and maintain national stability.

He called on APC members to close ranks and avoid internal divisions that could weaken the party ahead of future elections.

Abdulfatai expressed optimism that the APC would reclaim power in Oyo State in the next governorship election if members remain committed and united behind the party’s vision. “By God’s grace, we shall be victorious,” he added.
