Real Madrid manager Álvaro Arbeloa has publicly given his blessing for José Mourinho to replace him as Real Madrid manager.
Arbeloa has been in charge since January 2026 following Xabi Alonso’s departure but faced a trophy-less period, leading to pressure and a likely return to the academy role.
Reports indicate Mourinho is the preferred candidate of President Florentino Pérez to restore order at the Bernabéu.

Speaking to reporters, Arbeloa expressed support for Mourinho amid intense speculation, calling him “the number one”.
“For me, as a former (Madrid) player and as a Madridista, Jose Mourinho is number one. He’s one of ours,” Arbeloa told reporters.
“If he comes back next year, I’ll be very happy to see him back home.”
