Does ‘Supergirl’ have a post-credits scene?

Supergirl has arrived in cinemas, but does the new DC film have a post-credits scene? Find out below.

Directed by Craig Gillespie, the film stars House Of The Dragon’s Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin, following the character’s introduction in James Gunn’s Superman.

Based on Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s comic book series Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow, the film follows Kara as she is pulled into an interstellar mission after meeting Ruthye Marye Knoll, played by Eve Ridley.

The cast also includes Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem Of The Yellow Hills, Jason Momoa as Lobo, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze and David Corenswet as Superman.

In a three-star review of the film, NME wrote: “Though the soundtrack features Wet Leg, Halsey and a bossa nova cantina band, it misses the trailer’s cracking ‘Call Me’ needle drop (despite the fact Kara wears a Blondie t-shirt). It’s symptomatic of a film that sometimes lacks oomph. Still, Alcock makes light work of an impressively imperfect hero and her performance is worth a watch alone.”

Does ‘Supergirl’ have a post-credits scene?

No, Supergirl does not have a post-credits scene.

It also does not have a mid-credits scene, meaning there is no extra DC tease once the credits begin to roll.

That means it has diverged from last year’s Superman, which included two credits stings. Supergirl, by contrast, lets the film’s ending stand on its own rather than adding another scene after the main story.

There had previously been some confusion around the issue. Before release, director Craig Gillespie appeared to suggest there would be post-credits action, but viewers do not need to stay until the very end unless they want to hear Claudia Sarne’s score and see the full list of names involved in the film.

The lack of a post-credits scene does not mean Supergirl is disconnected from the wider DC Universe. It already follows Kara’s first appearance in Superman, and she is also expected to remain part of the DCU going forward, with the character positioned as one of the key figures in the new era.

For now, though, Supergirl does not use its credits to tease the next chapter. Once the film ends, it ends.
