Donald Trump: criticism of coronavirus response is 'political'

President Donald Trump said that he planned to temporarily suspend immigration to the United States because of the coronavirus pandemic, despite the US already being the worst-hit country in the world.

Trump has swatted away criticism that he failed to take the coronavirus pandemic seriously enough earlier this year.

Despite criticism from many US governors that there isn’t enough testing occurring to safely open many parts of the US, the president said he would be criticised no matter what he did.

“If I came up with a tablet, you take it and and this plague is gone, they’ll say Trump did a terrible job, terrible terrible, because that’s their soundbite.”
