Governor Ayade Waves Tax On Low-Income Earners

As part of the state’s COVID-19 palliative, the executive Governor of Cross River State, Governor Ben Ayade has on Thursday imposed tax exemption on small and medium scale businesses, food vendors, peasant farmers, commercial transport operators, hotels with less than 50 rooms, and all those struggling to earn a living in order to expand and create a livelihood for their families.

According to the Governor, “this is not Ben Ayade, this is not my nature. I am not wired for this insensitivity to a weaker person. I never knew that five years into office as Governor, I will still find someone living in a thatched house in Cross River”

Ayade handed down the mandate while inaugurating the members of the Agency at Government House House Calabar on Tuesday. The members include Bishop Emma Isong as chairman, Rev.Fr Julius Ada, Secretary, Pastor John Ekpenyong, and Rev.Sister Patricia Olom as members.
