UK to produce 2bn items of PPE as COVID-19 deaths rise by 134

Health Secretary Matt Hancock said the government has signed contracts to produce 2bn units of PPE as the total number of coronavirus-related deaths in the UK rises to 37,048.

He announced a new trial for selected NHS patients of remdesivir, an antiviral drug that could shorten recovery time for COVID-19 patients by four days.
