Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau killed, claims Nigerian military

The Nigerian military says the leader of the militant Islamic sect Boko Haram Abubakar Shekau was killed several weeks ago from gunshots wounds inflicted during a clash with Nigerian soldiers. Reports of Shekau’s death have proved false before and there is currently no independent verification of the Nigerian military’s statement
