Hungarian GP 2020 – Preview & Betting Tips

Following two consecutive races in Austria, the Formula 1 calendar moves on to Hungary for the Hungarian GP 2020 on 17-19 July.

Mercedes have already taken a good lead over their rivals after just the first two races. Their two direct rivals, Ferrari and Red Bull can’t seem to keep the gap minimal even at this opening stage of the season. However, there is plenty of time for a turnaround and for Mercedes to be given some sort of challenge.

 

Just like with the opening races, the Hungarian GP will be held without fans. Heavy fines will be imposed if any rules are broken by the teams’ personnel present at the Hungaroring.

 

Hungarian GP 2020 in numbers

• 7 – Lewis Hamilton has won more Hungarian Grands Prix than any other driver, with his tally currently at seven.
• 11 – McLaren has enjoyed more wins here than any other team, with 11.
• 7 – Michael Schumacher currently holds the record for the most poles at this track (7).
• 2 – Jenson Button took his first F1 victory at the 2006 Hungarian Grand Prix, winning the race from fourteenth on the grid. It’s one of only two times, the other being Nigel Mansell in 1989, where the race has been won from further back than fourth on the grid.
• 1:17.103 – lap record time in the history of the Hungarian GP held by Max Verstappen since last year’s race.
• 1:35:03.796 – last year’s lap time for the winner of the Hungarian GP i.e. Lewis Hamilton Mercedes.

Prediction and Betting Tips

Given Mercedes’ lightning start to the new season, their duo is heavily backed by the bookies at the Hungarian GP. In fact, the six-time world champion is backed at odds of 1.67 ahead of Bottas who is priced at 4 with William Hill.

 

Max Verstappen has fared well in Hungary in the past and will be expected to replicate once again. He’s in fact priced at odds of 5 to snatch the win from Mercedes’ fast couple of drivers.
