DONALD Trump has hailed the “spirit and enthusiasm” of his campaign, claiming it has surpassed his first run for the presidency in 2016.
The comments come after Trump’s sister, 83-year-old retired federal judge Maryanne Trump, was heard in leaked audio making a series of attacks against her brother and his children.
Maryanne said the president “cheap”, his son Eric was a “moron, and that his daughter Ivanka was “all about her”.
The revelations follow a speech by the president at the Republican National Convention at which he described the approaching November election as the “most important election in the history of our country”.
“At no time before have voters faced a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies, or two agendas,” he said.
“This election will decide whether we save the American dream, or whether we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our cherished destiny.
“Joe Biden is not the saviour of America’s soul – he is the destroyer of America’s Jobs, and if given the chance, he will be the destroyer of American greatness.”
Polls continue to show Joe Biden with a significant lead over the president both nationally and in a number of key swing states.
