A new policy paper from the McGraw-Hill Research Foundation says that sustainability education should be expanded and more fully integrated into existing curriculums. The study, “A Transdisciplinary Approach to Sustainability Education,” outlines a comprehensive approach to sustainability. The report also reviews current innovative programs, such as those at the Center for Sustainable Education, a joint academic venture, and at Washington State University, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, and others.
After its 2010 World Cup South Africa campaign to fight AIDS, FIFA, the International Federation Football Association, is continuing its efforts with its “Football for Hope” program. FIFA is sponsoring Football for Hope Centres in association with local South African nonprofits, such as Grassroot Soccer, WhizzKids United, and Kick4Life. The centres use football as a tool for promoting health, education, and awareness of HIV/AIDS, as well as a variety of health services.
