COVID-19: UK's chief medical officers urge parents to send children back to school

Children are more likely to be harmed by not returning to school than if they catch #coronavirus, England’s chief medical adviser has said.

Professor Chris Whitty said the reopening of schools will “put pressure” on the infection rate and could lead to the closure of pubs and shops at a local level.

The chief medical officers for Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales joined him in urging parents to send their children back to school next month.
