(13 Feb 2019) JUSSIE SMOLLETT’S SIBLINGS SAY ‘HE’S HEALING’
Jussie Smollett’s siblings say the “Empire” star is healing and ready to publicly tell the story of his attack in Chicago two weeks ago.
“I’m really glad that tomorrow, there will be his first interview and so everyone can see from his mouth. And we are just – we are glad that he’s healing. He’s doing better, so. We are a strong family,” said Jazz Smollett, who along with brother Jake was promoting an unscripted home decor show called “Living By Design” Wednesday (13 FEB. 2019) in Pasadena, California.
An interview with Smollett is scheduled to air Thursday on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”
A preview clip from the interview was posted online Wednesday. In it Smollett says he’s “pissed off” that some have doubted his claims about being attacked outside his Chicago apartment last month.
The 36-year-old Smollett, who is black and openly gay, tells ABC News that he wonders how people could doubt him, adding that what he reported was the truth.
Both Smollett siblings attended their brother’s emotional Southern California concert held just days after the Jan. 29 incident, in which the singer and actor said he was attacked by two men yelling racist and homophobic slurs.
“When one is affected, we are all affected. So it definitely was a time we came together. And we are a strong family, so – getting through it,” said Jake Smollett.
They declined to elaborate on their family’s statement — posted on social media — that called the attack “domestic terrorism.”
Their “Living By Design” show will air later this year on TV One network.
