African Caribbean and Pacific countries will seek an extension of the deadline to sign Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) with the European Union when the council of ministers meet in Brussels in September this year. Robert Gomes, the Secretary General of the ACP – EU Group says it is likely that regions that have not signed the EPAs will not meet the deadline and will need more time to iron out outstanding issues. To date only the Caribbean region has signed and ratified a full regional agreement, which is currently being implemented. Sarah Kimani with the details from Dakar, Senegal.
