30 African countries have now confirmed to have detected the presence of the deadly coronavirus within their borders. World Health Organisation (WHO) Director General, Dr. Tedros Ghebreyesus said tracing and testing suspected cases of the virus sooner than later are as essential as social distancing – after sports meetings were cancelled, schools and institutions of higher learning closed and a worldwide travel ban on non-essential travel and closure of borders. Ghebreyesus expressed serious concerns about the lack of co-ordination among nations to curb the transmission of the disease which has remained a mystery. The virus is reportedly posing a major risk to low-income countries and communities.
