It is almost a month now that the federal government of Nigeria activated the covid-19 lockdown – majorly in three states of Lagos, Abuja and Ogun. The ongoing pandemic is hitting life across nations – toppling economic and political structures in its wake.
As the index case in Nigeria continues to rise, curtailing the spread becomes more challenging. And the continuous restriction of movement means the working class across the country – close to 80 million people – is heavily affected.
The plight of health workers in the pandemic has cast a light on an ill equipped and overburdened public health system that has for years been starved of funds and modern medical facilities.
