Write : 2018-01-21 13:17:46 Update : 2018-01-21 13:58:50 Japan has reportedly decided to enhance its support and cooperation for developing countries in Africa and Asia which have diplomatic relations with North Korea. Japan’s Kyodo News reported on Sunday that the move is aimed at leading these developing countries to halt business with the communist country and join global efforts to increase pressure against the regime. The plan is also aimed at blocking the sources of foreign currency for North Korea, which is continuing its nuclear and missile development program. The report said that trade of arms and ammunition in Africa is an important source of foreign currency for North Korea. The Japanese government reportedly allocated a budget of one-point-two billion yen or eleven-point-six billion won to expand its support for these developing countries to increase the effectiveness of sanctions against the North. Tokyo plans to transfer its knowhow to block and crack down on money laundering to Southeast Asian nations. In sub-Saharan Africa, Japan will pass down its methods to detect and regulate raw materials used for nuclear and missile development.
