KRC Genk forward Cyriel Dessers says playing for Nigeria remains the high point of his football career, reports Completesports.com.
Dessers made his debut for the three-time African champions in the 1-1 draw against the Carthage Eagles of Tunisia on Tuesday night at the Jacques Lemans Arena.
The striker took the place of Ahmed Musa in the second half of the game.
“I’m tired, barely slept last night and now have to go home by car, but it was worth it,” he told hln.be.
“It was fun, I was very well received in the group. This was a high point in my career, yes. There are not many things that are more highly regarded, right? Maybe become a top shooter, yes. But playing for your country … ”
Dessers also reflected on training with his international teammates.
“I did my thing, also in training. By the way, they were of a very high standard, really. Training with basic players from Villarreal, Everton, Fulham, …: great fun. Did I not look out of place? You should ask the trainer that, but I don’t think so. I scored my goals and had a good feeling,” he added.
