PEOPLE ON WORK! 3 Golden Question Interview with Mark Tibbs, Cyber Intelligence & Investigation Director.
Mark likes finding out the answers to the things he investigates. When he discovers critical information, Mark likes the impact this has on his work and the people around him.
Mark started out with an early interest in criminal psychology. He studied psychology at university, then worked for the Serious and Organised Crime Agency, which later became the UK’s National Crime Agency. As he learned more about intelligence and investigation, Mark moved into the NCA’s cyber crime unit as an intelligence analyst. After that he went on to work for himself and then for a law firm where he is their director of investigation.
To someone starting out today, Mark says that it helps to gain as much experience as you can, especially when you are interested in a particular field. He says that talking to people who are already doing the work is useful because this helps you understand more about what you are interested in yourself. In his professional field Mark says that there are a number of different areas you can focus on, and plenty of opportunities for training, so knowing what you are interested in really helps!
