Osimhen Sends Message To Galatasaray After Samsunspor Setback

Nigerian striker, Victor Osimhen, has called on Galatasaray to move on quickly from their shock 4-1 defeat to Samsunspor as the title race in the Turkish Super Lig heads into its final stretch.

Osimhen spoke after Saturday’s loss, insisting the result should not derail the club’s push to secure the title next weekend.

“Let’s not get stuck on this game. We have to keep going,” Osimhen said as quoted by Fotomac after the match.
“We need to win at home and declare the championship. Nothing has changed. The team will give everything. We will focus on the next match.”

Galatasaray entered the game needing a win to seal the title, but were stunned at the Canik 19 May Stadium. Osimhen had started brightly, setting up Yunus Akgün for the visitors’ only goal in the ninth minute before the game slipped away.

The forward later admitted the team fell short of expectations. “We knew it wouldn’t be that easy to win the title here,” Osimhen said.
“We didn’t play well either. We will win our next home match and officially secure the championship. We apologise to the fans. We will look ahead.”

A costly back pass from Osimhen in the second half contributed to goalkeeper Günay Güvenç being sent off, compounding the visitors’ struggles.

Despite the defeat, Galatasaray remain top on 74 points, four clear of Fenerbahçe with two matches left. Victory over Antalyaspor next weekend would confirm back-to-back league titles.

Osimhen, who joined permanently from Napoli last summer, has still enjoyed a standout campaign with 20 goals and eight assists in 32 appearances across all competitions.
