JAMB Extends Direct Entry Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has extended the registration deadline for the 2026 Direct Entry application exercise to May 22, 2026.

Naija News reports that the board announced that the new deadline will give candidates seeking Direct Entry admission more time to complete their registration process and submit the necessary documents required for admission.

Many applicants were said to be facing delays in getting their academic credentials and other important documents needed for registration.

The extension is expected to help such candidates finish their applications without missing the opportunity for the 2026 admission exercise.

This is not the first time the board has adjusted the registration period. JAMB had earlier moved the closing date to May 8 and also approved more accredited registration centres across the country to reduce pressure on existing centres and make the process easier for applicants.

Candidates have been advised to complete their registration early and avoid waiting until the last moment to prevent issues that may arise from network problems, overcrowding at centres or incomplete documentation.

JAMB is also expected to continue preparations for the 2026 admission exercise ahead of the admission policy meeting fixed for May 11, 2026.

The meeting is expected to involve discussions on admission procedures and other guidelines for tertiary institutions across the country.
