Blankson Leaves Rivers Angels With ‘Fond Memories’

Rivers Angels Head Coach, Tosan Blankson, has exclusively confirmed to Completesports.com that he has left the club with ‘Fond memories’ after a two season stint with the club.

Blankson is understood to have left Rivers Angels With his backroom staff.

The 56-year-old gaffer steered the club to two Rivers State Women FA Cup successes, one President Federation Cup Triumph (2025) and two Super 6 qualifications during his two-year tenure with the Port Harcourt side.

“There is time for a chapter to come to a close. And there’s also time for a closed chapter to open a new chapter”, Blankson, a left-back during his playing days at Rangers International and Iwuanyanwu Nationale (now Heartland FC) began when Completesports.com called him up on Tuesday evening.

“And I think I had a ‘Fond memory’ working with Rivers Angels, — good people, amazing club, fantastic supporters always electrifying the stadium atmosphere each time we play.

“It’s just that there has to be an end to an era and I have to move on. But I will always wish them the best and whoever comes to replace me to be as well successful with the club.”

In 2025, Blankson helped Rivers Angels win the President Federation Cup, their 10th Cup title in history, following a 4-2 penalty shootout victory over Nasarawa Amazons after coming from a 2-0 down to tie the game at 2-2.

Blankson also won the Nigeria Women Football League, NWFL, title in 2023 with Delta Queens before he moved to Rivers Angels.

Blankson responded to speculation that Edo Queens could be his next managerial destination for the coming 2026/2027 domestic season.

“No doubt there are discussions here and there with this or that club but nothing is yet cast on stone. I’m resting for now, after which one will be ready for any ‘fresh challenge’.”
