Coronavirus UK: Government launches test and trace programme for COVID-19

Health Secretary Matt Hancock has outlined the government’s test and trace programme, which will begin on 28 May in England.

Anyone who has been in close contact with someone who has been infected with COVID-19 will be asked to isolate for 14 days even if they have no symptoms.

Mr Hancock said the measures will be “voluntary” and a matter of “civic duty” – but that they will be made mandatory if necessary.
