Live green screen video with live uploads to YouTube at Bluewater Shopping centre London for Duracell in support of Barnardo’s. Our latest live green screen video job was for Duracel at Bluewater in London where we spent the week working for Duracell in aid of Barnardo’s, flying families in an amazing animated Christmas Sled. We uploaded the green screen movies live to a dedicated YouTube channel and so far have had over 13 million impressions! We easily managed over 200 movies a day, nearer to 300 at the weekend!
Above is a short video showing some of the setup and work, and a brief glimpse of the genuinely lovely Mel C who turned up at 7am to support Barnardo’s appeal. Even she couldn’t resist having a go in the green screen studio sled, with the Duracell Bunny. We hadn’t setup the animation that would fly the sled from side to side, but she didn’t mind. So how popular was the live green screen video activity? Manic would be the best way to describe it. We work fast, and as everything is live and done in real time we can get a lot of people through. People actually see themselves on monitors facing the green screen flying through our Winter wonderland scenes as we work, and we kept each green screen movie down to a minute in full HD.
As soon as one group finished, the next group were in the sled within seconds! The movies uploaded automatically to the Youtube channel and that happens in the background, so there is no delay. It’s just one group out, next group in and away we go again 🙂 So we managed to get around a thousand people a day through the activity, but many thousands more watched on the big screens.
We use the latest ultra high tech green screen TV Studio which is very compact and you may be able to make out the unique tube led lighting we have had made for exactly this type of work. The led’s nearest the screen give out less light and the ones angled furthest away give out more, so we get an evenly lit screen. Then we light the guests using two more, it’s all wireless and cable free. This is only possible using the very latest technology coupled to special video cameras that we record from in 10 bit uncompressed full HD quality. It makes for a very compact live video solution that we can take in normal luggage on an airplane, hence all of our work overseas.
Although what we do looks simple in action, it requires very careful programming and creation of the green screen backing footage beforehand. We also had to create a memorable Youtube channel, and then program the system so it would all run automatically. If you watch carefully you will see the special effects layers adding snow in front of the guests, and branding layers as required. This is all preset by us to the clients requirements. But we can fly the sled or anything else by hand to make each video unique!
