Freedom of movement will end when the UK leaves the EU, Shadow Home Secretary Diane Abbott says – adding “no ifs, no buts”. But she voiced concerns about the drop in the number of EU migrants to the UK, saying: “We are seeing numbers going down at a time when we are 24,000 nurses short. Anti-immigration is bad for the economy.”
