A CHILDREN’S teddy bear has been recalled over a worrying choking hazard.
A zipper on the bear’s pouch can detach, posing a risk to young children.

A plush teddy from beloved toy chain Build-A-Bear has been recalled today, Monday, May 11.
According to the Office for Product Safety & Standards (OPSS), the Heartwarming Hugs Bear 2 with Zipper Closure is a risk to young children owing to a part of the product that can be removed.
Build-A-Bear Workshop has now recalled around 36,000 Heartwarming Hug Bears in both the UK and US.
The plush teddy was on sale between 21st January and 6th March 2026 and the model is number 434464.
The toy in question is a brown weighted plush bear that has a zipped pouch.
Inside the pouch is a red heart filled with ceramic beads, that customers can heat or cool.
According to the product recall notice, the bear could harm young children owing to a small detachable part that presents a low choking risk.
The identified hazard is a “zipper on the bear’s pouch that can detach”, creating a small part.
The detachable element of the toy can be a choking hazard to children “who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths”.
As a result, the product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011.
Customers are urged to stop using the product immediately and return the toy to their local Build-a-Bear store for a full refund.
The product recall notice was issued in the UK after a consumer reported the zipper detaching from the product, but the bear has also been recalled in the US too.
Build-a-Bear is a popular toy store chain where customers can create their own teddy bear from scratch.
