THIS is the awkward moment a BBC news host got the name of a huge show completely wrong live on air.
Peter Levy was hosting a Look North bulletin this week when he started to discuss a popular location in East Yorkshire that would be featuring on Springwatch.
But he said: “One of East Yorkshire’s top beauty spots features on BBC Two’s Crimewatch programme…”
He quickly realised his mistake and corrected himself, saying: “Springwatch programme, I beg your pardon!”
Peter struggled to contain his own laughter as he continued to speak, adding: “Not Crimewatch, Springwatch. Oh that’s a classic isn’t it?!”
The moment was shared on social media, and one viewer commented: “@peter_levy utter legend!!!! xx.”
Another tweeted: “Oh dear @peter_levy” alongside two crying with laughter emojis.
It isn’t the first time Peter, who has been a weekday presenter on Look North since 2002, has gotten the giggles after an on-air blunder.
Back in 2023, he was left in a fit of laughter as he read the day’s headlines for Lincolnshire and East Yorkshire.
The story in question was relating to the soaring costs to repair a walkway in Lincoln, known as the ‘Glory Hole’.
However, Peter found himself unable to compose himself as he delivered the report on the interestingly named path.
The broadcaster said: “Now, it’s estimated that the bill to repair Lincoln’s Glory Hole, will be…”
Peter had a brief pause where his usual serious manner appeared to wilt as he realised the rude connotations of what he had just said.
A smile shot across his face as he attempted to carry on by saying, “will be anything from sixty…”
Once again, Peter began to giggle as he read out the predicted costs for the replacement.
As he continued to giggle, the BBC cut to shots of the ‘Glory Hole’ as Peter told viewers about how long it had been closed to the public all whilst enjoying a giggle or two along the way.
