Brazil suffer worrying injury blow as Raphinha is forced off against Haiti just days before Scotland World Cup clash


RAPHINHA hobbled off in an injury scare for Brazil. 

The Barcelona star went down seemingly innocuously just before half-time in the clash with Haiti in Philadelphia.

And after brief treatment from the medical team, he walked off gingerly to be replaced by Rayan, who made his World Cup debut.

Raphinha had seen a goal ruled out for offside and then dinked another big chance just wide before the flag went up. 

Matheus Cunha then grabbed two quickfire goals to put the five-time champions 2-0 up against their Caribbean opponents. 

Viniciur Jr made it three on the stroke of half-time with a tidy finish at the near post.

But there will be concern with Raphinha going off in the first half. 

It is unclear if Raphinha was withdrawn as a precaution with the game realistically already done and dusted or if there is a serious issue. 

There are fears he suffered a problem with his hamstring.

Vini Jr led the applause as his team-mate headed off the field.

Ancelotti is already without Neymar who arrived in North America already nursing a calf injury. 

That issue is expected to keep the No10 out until the knockout stages.

Neymar did not travel from Brazil’s New York Red Bulls training centre to Philadelphia for the Haiti game, prompting the country’s president to furiously slam him for “working from home”. 

Brazil face Scotland in Miami on Wednesday and the loss of Raphinha could be a huge factor in the clash.

Scotland sit third on three points after defeat to Morocco and face a battle to progress in the tournament.
