THIS is the wild moment two bikini-clad tourists saved a wounded sheep that went swimming in a river after being chased by a dog.
A mum and daughter leapt into action after spotting the stricken animal fighting for its life in the Kama River in Russia.
Anna and Anastasia Zapevalova were paddle boarding on calm waters when they suddenly noticed something thrashing at the surface.
Shocking footage shows the pair gliding across the river before realising the shape in the water was an exhausted, injured sheep.
In a daring rescue, the mum hauled the drowning animal out of the river and dragged it onto her paddleboard.
She is seen battling to lift the heavy beast, yanking its leg and heaving its soaked body to safety.
Once on board, the battered sheep lay still and calm despite its ordeal.
The pair then paddled the stricken animal – its legs dangling over the edge – back towards shore.
Anastasia’s dad pulled the paddleboard in as they reached land, bringing the dramatic rescue to an end.
“There’s a huge torn wound on its back leg. A dog got into their pen and attacked,” said Anastasia, 22.
“This sheep got out and decided to flee across the river.”
The soaked animal was too weak to fight back and did not resist as it was hauled from the water.
Anna dragged the sheep onto her board before the pair ferried it back to shore, where it was reunited with its owner.
To reach land, Anastasia towed her mother and the rescued animal across the river.
The sheep was later examined by a vet and its injuries were treated.
The pair initially believed they were rescuing a goat before realising it was in fact a sheep.
As they neared the bank, Anastasia said: “This is proper mental. Take my hand, pull me in.”
When they reached land, her dad said: “Look, she’s sitting there nice and calm now.”
His daughter added: “She’s completely done in…”
The father replied: “She nearly died, didn’t she?”
The dramatic rescue quickly went viral across Russia.
“The chance of meeting a sheep in the middle of the river is vanishingly small, but never zero,” joked Anna.
The pair, from Anapa, were teased online as “townies” for mistaking the sheep for a goat.
But many praised Anna’s strength in hauling the heavy animal onto her board.
One comment read: “I’m a reasonably strong man and I’m pretty confident on a SUP board.
“But I’m not sure I could have pulled a sheep-goat like that onto my board without flipping over.
“This woman’s maternal instinct kicked in on adrenaline.
Another said: “This is heroic! They weigh as much as a sack of cement!”
A wet adult ewe can weigh between 70-90kg – around 150-200lb – making the rescue even more remarkable.
Another comment read: “The sheep is in shock that she’s a goat. Well done girls, they saved the animal.”
