‘No immigration checks’ between Ireland and Northern Ireland after Brexit

The UK says it will not reintroduce immigration checks between Ireland and the British province of Northern Ireland after Brexit.

There has been no hard border between the two territories since a 1998 peace deal ended the Northern Ireland conflict.

It is one of the most sensitive issues in Brexit negotiations with the EU – of which Ireland is still a member.
