TWO SNOOKER stars were forced to leave the stage after a POWER SURGE caused chaos at the World Snooker Championship.
Mark Allen and Wu Yize were playing out the first session of their semi-final clash at the iconic Crucible Theatre in Sheffield when there was a sudden loud crash.
The noise seemingly triggered a power surge that resulted in the BBC’s live coverage of the event CUTTING OUT.
And it left bemused fans at home staring at a message apologising for the unexpected break in programming.
Reports from the Crucible claimed that amid the chaos, the players were forced to step away from their ongoing match, which was poised at 2-0 in Wu Yize’s favour at the time of the interruption.
Play resumed before the broadcast returned, with some fans bizarrely seeing their programming switched to an episode of Britain’s Wild Isles, with the nature show focused on a number of sheep.
Allen went on to win the frame, which furious fans at home missed, before keeping his cool to level the contest at 2-2 heading into the interval.
Former world champion Steve Davis praised the Northern Irish potter’s composure in the face of a chaotic situation.
He said: “It was obvious in the room here, when the screens went blank at home, that something had happened.
“Lights went off. The cameras stopped filming players.

“Mark Allen was aware something weird had happened and how good a performance to keep his standard up without getting confused by what was going on.
“There were people going, ‘what’s going on, where are we with it?’ Nobody knew what to do.
“Then amazingly, it happened again. We heard it in the last frame.
“And he still kept his composure. That is somebody who is on point at the moment.”
