‘You don’t need me’ – Richard Keys, 69, sends message to former employers after leaving TV to reunite with wife, 37


TV presenter Richard Keys suggested he will enjoy a break from the screen during the World Cup this summer.

The 69-year-old will not front coverage of the major tournament for BeIN Sports over the next six weeks.

He took to social media on the opening day of the tournament to wish his colleagues well.

Keys said: “To everyone @beINSPORTS_EN. Have a wonderful WC guys. You don’t need me anymore.

“You’ve been the best for a long time now. Make it count. Make it memorable.”

It was revealed in February that Keys would not be continuing with BeIN Sports beyond the summer because the broadcaster decided against renewing his contract.

Andy Gray, his long-term broadcasting partner and close friend, is also set to leave.

Keys is now expected to move in permanently with his wife, Lucie Rose, 37, with whom he has been in a long-distance relationship with since they married three years ago.
