Yuvraj Singh is set to make a comeback after withdrawing his decision to retire from cricket. Yuvraj, 38, has written to the Punjab Cricket Association expressing his readiness to play for Punjab’s T20 team again in domestic cricket.
Yuvraj announced his retirement from cricket in June last year. The Punjab Cricket Association will now have to decide on Yuvraj.
Last month, Punjab Cricket Association secretary Puneet Bali had asked Yuvraj to withdraw his retirement and work as a player and mentor for the Punjab team. After announcing the lockdown concessions, Yuvraj went to Yuvraj batting training with youngsters Shubhman Gill and Abhishek Sharma.
It was only when he batted again to teach the youngsters some of the techniques of the game that he realized that he could bat better even without training. “After two months of training, the Punjab Cricket Association secretary approached me with a request to return to the team.
Initially, I was skeptical about accepting it,” Yuvraj said. Because instead of domestic cricket, I decided to play in other countries’ domestic T20 leagues. So I spent three or four weeks thinking about the need for Bali. “After that, I decided to play T20 cricket again for Punjab,” Yuvraj said.
There were reports yesterday that Yuvraj was being considered for the Big Bash League, Australia’s T20 league.
