Driver, 31, charged over horror crash that killed ‘beautiful’ teen twin sister, 18, days before Christmas


A DRIVER has been charged after a horror crash that killed a teenage girl and left six others injured just days before Christmas.

Jack Reape, 31, was driving a black Mercedes CLK when it collided with a white Citroen C3 in Cotesbach on December 15, 2023, killing passenger Chloe Pearson, 18.

He has now been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, causing death while driving disqualified and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The collision claimed the life of Chloe, from Castleford, West Yorkshire, who was travelling in the Citroen.

Chloe was rushed to hospital after the crash but tragically died from her injuries two days later.

Her twin sister, Abigale Pearson, was also in the car and suffered serious injuries.

The driver and passenger in the Mercedes were also seriously injured – a total of seven people were hurt in the collision.

In a heartbreaking tribute, Abigale said: “The most devastating thing is that I came out of this incident without my twin sister.

“I’m absolutely mortified and heartbroken that I’ve no longer got her by my side. Rest in peace beautiful, until we meet again.”

In a separate emotional Facebook post, she added: “Words can’t describe how much I miss you Chloe, life’s never going to be same without you.

“I’m heartbroken and lost knowing you’re never coming back.

“I promise to always make you proud, I love you so much.”

Their grandmother, Elizabeth Pearson, said: “Chloe was caring, beautiful and so full of life. She had just started her nursing career.

“It is so numbing; we are all in shock. The family has been ripped apart. We are all mourning together. Castleford is mourning.”

Reape is due to appear at Leicester Crown Court on Tuesday, May 26.
